Yes, respiratory training has strict health contraindications. Do not use this device or any other prior to consulting your physician before using this.

  • If you have asthma or any other chronic respiratory condition, you must consult your physician before using this or any other breathing product. Please note that we do not offer medical advice, and this breathing trainer is not classified as a medical device. It is intended strictly for general fitness purposes to strengthen the respiratory muscles through resistance training.
  • While respiratory training should challenge your lungs, it should never cause pain or severe distress. If you experience dizziness, lightheadedness, chest discomfort, or persistent shortness of breath, stop using the device immediately, sit down in a safe space, and seek professional attention if the feelings do not clear up quickly.

If you are a healthy individual looking to improve your fitness or general wellness, guidance is not required. However, if you are currently under specific health care, managing a pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular condition, or taking personal care products, you must consult with a licensed health professional before beginning respiratory muscle training.

Expand-A-Lung is designed for adults and young adults over the age of 18. If a minor or teenager wishes to use the device for high school athletics or competitive sports training, it must only be done under the direct supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or licensed athletic coach, and after consulting with a wellness provider.
