MEDICAL DISCLAIMER & CONTRAINDICATIONS
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USE
Last Updated: July 22, 2026
Please read the following carefully before using your Expand-A-Lung device.
1. Consult a Physician Before Use
The Expand-A-Lung device and its Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT) protocols training that strengthens the muscles you use to breathe are designed for performance and wellness purposes. They’re not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you’re currently under medical care, taking medication, or managing a pre-existing condition, check with a licensed physician before adding RMT to your routine. Think of it the same way you’d clear a new strength program with a professional. Smart training starts with the right foundation.
2. Contraindications - Do Not Use If You Have:
RMT is a serious tool, and like any training method, it’s not right for every body. Do not use this device if any of the following apply and pushing through these can lead to real injury:
- Chest & Lungs: History of spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung); recent traumatic pneumothorax or rib fracture (wait until fully healed); large pulmonary bullae; costochondritis; or marked osteoporosis with a history of rib fractures.
- Heart & Circulation: Pulmonary hypertension; markedly elevated left ventricular end-diastolic volume/pressure; or any signs of worsening heart failure.
- Recent Surgery: Recent abdominal or thoracic surgery, or an existing abdominal hernia.
- Ears: Ruptured eardrum or other acute ear conditions.
- Asthma: Profiles marked by low symptom perception, frequent or severe exacerbations, or a diminished ability to sense shortness of breath.
3. Single-User Use Only
Expand-A-Lung is built for individual use only. Keep it that way. Sharing the device, even with family or training partners, risks cross-contamination and the spread of bacteria, saliva-borne illness, or respiratory viruses. Everyone deserves their own set of lungs to train, and their own device to train them with.
4. Stop Use Immediately If You Experience:
Training should challenge you. It shouldn’t compromise you. Stop immediately and seek medical attention if you experience:
- Oxygen desaturation – a drop in blood oxygen saturation, or SpO2 (Peripheral Capillary Oxygen Saturation), below 94%
- Dizziness, chest pain, or shortness of breath that lingers after your session
- Any worsening of an existing chronic condition
5. Assumption of Risk & Limitation of Liability
Using Expand-A-Lung is a choice you’re making for yourself, and you’re taking it on at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, Expand-A-Lung, its parent companies, and affiliates aren’t liable for direct, indirect, or consequential damages, injuries, or health complications resulting from use or misuse of this product, or from skipping professional medical guidance before starting.
